One Programme

One Programme is the result of joint planning by UN entities for their joint initiatives for human development in Pakistan till 2010.There was a conscious decision to shift from stapling different thematic components of agencies together to jointly developing programmes by all agencies. The thematic areas of the UNDAF were revisited and revised in consultation with the government keeping in mind the national priorities, the MDGs and international norms and conventions. The new five thematic areas are: Environment, Education, Agriculture, Rural Development and Poverty Reduction (ARP), Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and Health & Population. An extensive and comprehensive review including a situation analysis, internal and external mapping, a SWOT analysis, identifying the competitive advantages, geographic distribution, partner consultations at all levels, and finally developing joint programmes log frames was conducted by representatives of the relevant UN entities. Thematic Working Groups (TWGs) on each of the five thematic areas were formed to carry out this review process. The review process resulted in five Joint Programmes with various Joint Programme Components to make the One Programme. Joint Programme documents will be developed to clearly outline the initiatives of the UN in each thematic while ensuring mainstreaming of the cross cutting themes across all areas.
